It’s been business as usual for the Blackwood Heating team, which means another busy period working on heating and renewable energy installations across Yorkshire.
Our engineers have recently been working on the North Yorkshire Council HUG contract alongside BCS, My Green Power and Infinity Innovations, carrying out installations at properties across Yorkshire, with locations ranging from Richmond through to Selby.
The work has involved the installation of HarriTek heat pumps alongside Hanchu solar and battery systems, helping to provide households with modern, energy-efficient technology designed to reduce reliance on traditional energy sources.
Supporting the Move Towards Renewable Heating
The way homes are heated is gradually changing, with increasing numbers of properties moving towards renewable and low-carbon heating technology.
Air source heat pumps are playing an important role in this transition. Rather than generating heat in the same way as a traditional gas or oil boiler, an air source heat pump extracts heat energy from the outside air and transfers it into the property’s heating and hot water system.
When correctly specified and professionally installed, heat pumps can provide an efficient and effective heating solution.
As with any heating installation, however, the quality of the design and installation is extremely important. The system needs to be appropriate for the property, correctly sized and integrated properly with the rest of the heating and hot water system.
That’s where experienced heating engineers make the difference.
Recent Heat Pump Installations Across Yorkshire
Our recent projects have taken the Blackwood Heating team to properties throughout Yorkshire.
The photographs show just a selection of the installations we have been completing, including external heat pump units and the associated internal cylinders, pipework and system components.
Every property presents different challenges. The available space, existing heating system, building construction and positioning of the external equipment all need to be considered before and during an installation.
Our engineers work carefully to ensure each system is installed correctly, safely and as neatly as possible.
Good workmanship isn’t simply about getting a heating system operational. Attention also needs to be given to pipework, insulation, equipment positioning, accessibility for future maintenance and the overall finish of the installation.
These are standards that we apply whether we’re completing an individual domestic installation or working as part of a larger programme involving multiple properties.
Working on the North Yorkshire Council HUG Contract
We’re pleased to be involved in work being carried out through the North Yorkshire Council HUG contract.
The Home Upgrade Grant (HUG) is designed to support energy-efficiency improvements to eligible homes, particularly properties that can benefit from improvements to their existing heating and energy arrangements.
Projects of this scale require coordination between a number of organisations and trades, with installations being completed at different properties and locations across a large geographical area.
Our recent work has seen the team travelling throughout Yorkshire, from Richmond to Selby, completing installations and helping to deliver these improvements.
Working alongside BCS, My Green Power and Infinity Innovations has allowed Blackwood Heating to contribute our heating and installation expertise to these ongoing projects.
HarriTek Heat Pumps
The recent installations have included HarriTek air source heat pump systems.
The external heat pump unit forms a key part of the system, extracting available heat from the outside air. This energy can then be used as part of the property’s heating and hot water system.
Although the technology is different from a conventional boiler, homeowners still get the everyday comfort of a properly heated home and hot water.
The installation itself involves considerably more than simply positioning an external unit. Cylinders, controls, insulated pipework and other components all have to work together as one complete system.
Our engineers ensure these different elements are installed and connected correctly while maintaining a professional standard of workmanship throughout the property.
Solar and Battery Technology
Some of the projects also incorporate Hanchu solar and battery systems.
Combining technologies such as solar generation, battery storage and efficient heating can help properties make better use of the energy available to them.
Solar panels can generate electricity during daylight hours, while battery storage can allow some of that electricity to be stored for use when it is needed.
When these technologies are considered alongside modern heating systems such as air source heat pumps, they can form part of a much broader approach to improving household energy efficiency.
Experienced Heating Engineers
While renewable heating technology continues to develop, the fundamentals of a quality heating installation remain the same: good planning, appropriate equipment and experienced engineers who understand how heating systems work.
Blackwood Heating has extensive experience across plumbing, heating and renewable heating technologies.
This allows our team to approach heat pump installations with a wider understanding of the complete heating and hot water system rather than treating the heat pump as an isolated piece of equipment.
From external units and cylinders through to pipework, controls and the final commissioning of the system, attention to detail matters at every stage.
Another Busy Period for Blackwood Heating
We’re delighted to continue being kept busy with projects throughout Yorkshire and the North East.
The North Yorkshire Council HUG contract is just one example of the type of renewable heating work our team is currently involved with, and we’re looking forward to completing many more installations as demand for energy-efficient heating technology continues to grow.
For homeowners, contractors and organisations looking for an experienced plumbing, heating and renewable energy installation company, Blackwood Heating can provide professional support backed by practical industry experience.
If you’re considering an air source heat pump, upgrading an existing heating system or require experienced heating engineers for a larger project, contact Blackwood Heating to discuss your requirements.
